VALERY GILMANOV

A Novosibirsk State Conservatoire graduate (A.Y.Levitsky▓s class). From 1994, soloist with the Novosibirsk State Theatre of Opera and Ballet. From 2000, soloist with Moscow▓s New Opera Company.
 
 His repertory includes the following roles: Varlaam (Boris Godunov), Konchak (Prince Igor), Gremin (Eugene Onegin), The Miller (The Rusalka), Boris Timofeyevich (Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk), Ramphis (Aida), Collin, Benoit (La Boheme), Abimelech, An Old Hebrew (Samson et Dalila), The Ghost of Hamlet▓s Father (Hamlet), Loredano (I Due Foscari), Sparafucile (Rigoletto).
From 2002 soloist with Bolshoi Theatre. His repertory includes: Ivan Khovansky (Khovanshchina), Frost (The Snow Maiden), King of Clubs (The Love for three Oranges), Polkan (The Golden Cockerel), Ivan Susanin (Ivan Susanin), Farlaf (Ruslan and Lyudmila), Orlik (Mazeppa), Inquisitor (The Fiery Angel), Varlaam (Boris Godunov), Daland (Der Fliegende Hollander), Boris Timofeyevich (Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk).

In 1998, he won a Philip Morris-Debut prize for the best operatic debut of the 1997-98 season; the S.I.Bugayov Fund prize; the Paradise prize (Novosibirsk). He is winner of the Siberian Fair gold medal. Winner of the Golden Mask National Theatre prize (for his performance in V.Kobekin▓s opera Young David, Novosibirsk, 2000).

Toured in Portugal, Spain, Thailand, Italy. He sang the part Boris Timofeyevich in Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk (in Spain, Italy, France, Germany and the Argentine in 2000 as part of the M.Rostropovich world project). In 2002, he appeared at the National Santa Cecilia Academy, in Rome.
